MCWL Geochemistry
Our geochemistry has dedicated considerable resources to developing the most advanced wellsite geochemistry program available. For many years, we have participated in various geochemical projects in the major basins across the U.S. including, The Gulf of Mexico, Bakken, Marcellus, Utica, Permian, Anadarko, Ardmore, Fort Worth, South Texas, and DJ basins.
Geochemistry provides invaluable information in a timely and cost-efficient way.
Geochemistry Services

Isotope Analysis
Near-Real-Time (NRT) analysis of δ13C1, δ13C2, δ13C3 for both mud/formation gases & cuttings/headspace gases. This instrument is also integrated with a fully equipped GC enabling concentration measurements of C1-C6+. Paladin provides a unique patented process using isotope geochemistry for Sweet Spot Prediction (SSP). Isotope analysis allows the determination of relative permeability and relative pressure, pore pressure indication, and fingerprinting for geosteering guidance, among other applications.

HRGC Water Cut Indices

3D Fluorescence
This is an advanced onsite service that allows quantifiable analysis of the cuttings cut and show fluorescence. The cycle time is ~20 seconds. It will provide 2D and 3D visualization that easily allows the user to see the type and quality of the oil show. Data will allow determination of oiliness index, oil concentration, and oil quality. Images will be added to the log, if required and a full data report is provided to the client. This service takes the subjectivity away from old UV-box methods.

Source Rock Analysis
MCWL Paladin Geological Services offers source potential geochemical analysis to determine organic content and source potential of rocks. Extensive experience in unconventional petroleum systems means we are able to provide expert interpretation and understanding of the source rock characteristics. Our geochemists work with operators closely on projects to provide a good understanding of these systems. It is critical to understand the oil & gas generation potential for better resource allocation, future targets and reservoir delineation.

X-Ray Diffraction

X-Ray Fluorescence:
MCWL Paladin Geological Services provides X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) on-site for any job. XRF is a quick and versatile method to analyze the elemental compositions of rock substances. Samples can be analyzed rapidly after sample preparation to provide a variety of lithological information. Geologists can customize which elements they prefer to view on the mud log as a separate track or as its own plot with our exclusive plotting software.

Tight Oil Analysis
Tight oil formations have different fluid mechanics as well as different petroleum compositions. Using standard mud logging practices, cruicial key parameters are missed. Our unique methodology examines whole samples within 10 minutes. Applying low temperature pyrolysis enables the detection of the S0 peak that can be further resolved into peaks that determine gas, condensate/light oil, and light oil. The technique allows the wellsite geologist to measure and quantify producible versus non-producible zones during drilling operations.
